VERY RARE Early 1960s Bonnie Cashin for Sills Wool Jersey Madonna hooded Tunic dress and belted leather poncho.

Trimmed in matching suede
Unmarked size. Measures as a contemporary 6/8

Bust:35-37 there is give to the jersey
Waist: 32 - 34"

Sleeve: 22" (top shoulder apex to cuff edge)
Total Length: 34" (measured on shoulder seam, to bottom edge) there is a 3.5" hem allowance if you want to let it out.

Condition: MINT. Collectors condition. Pretty much flawless, no holes tears or wear. Item was stored correctly in a cedar closet with a collection of other Cashin pieces, one owner. Honestly we don't see vintage items like this often, and I have never seen a "Madonna" widows peak hooded jersey on the market.

Most of Bonnie Cashin designs, from this era are in personal collections or are in museums. Now you can own a piece of fashion history!

One of the first designers to create and popularize women's sportswear, Cashin introduced many unique designs, later standards in the fashion industry. Among these were a roomy turtleneck that did not need a zipper to get it over one's head, or the more whimsical "Madonna" or widow's peak hooded wool jersey to use as a base layer. She introduced the concept of layering to deal with temperature changes and the use of such heavyweight materials as leather (she was the first to do a leather dress). All were created with the new vibrant, modern woman in mind.
